I Moved to Scotland!
Well, I did it! After months of planning, preparing, packing, and talking about moving to Scotland, I finally made it to Edinburgh!
Of course, getting here wasn't quite as straightforward as I had hoped. My mom and I made it across the Atlantic to London Heathrow, only to find out that our connecting flight to Edinburgh had been canceled due to air traffic control issues. With more flights being canceled and no idea when we'd be able to leave, we decided to take matters into our own hands and catch a train to Scotland instead. Unfortunately, our luggage couldn't come with us, so after filing a baggage report, we set off on an unexpected four-and-a-half-hour train journey to Edinburgh. Not exactly how I imagined arriving in my new home, but we made it!
The next several days were a whirlwind of shopping, exploring, spending time with friends, and getting everything ready for move-in day. On Saturday, I finally got the keys to my new flat and started making the space my own. Before I knew it, Welcome Week had arrived, my mom was heading back to the States, and I was officially beginning my life as a postgraduate student at the University of Edinburgh.
It's hard to believe that it's already been about a month since all of this happened. Between getting settled, meeting new people, and jumping straight into my coursework, I've barely had a chance to process how much has changed in such a short amount of time. Going back through all the footage to put this video together has been such a fun experience. There were moments I'd completely forgotten about, little conversations that made me laugh, and so many memories from those first few days that already feel like they happened ages ago.
I'm starting to feel pretty settled here, and although there's still plenty to figure out, I'm really enjoying this new chapter. I'm also excited to keep documenting my experience, both through videos and here on my website.
So, without further ado, come move to Scotland with me!
xoxo,
Barbie
