Moving to Scotland: An Update

Somehow, I am officially less than a month away from moving to Scotland.
Even typing that feels a little surreal.
Over the last few months, I’ve been collecting little clips of my life without really knowing what they would eventually become. Days at work, trips to Charlotte, evenings at home, the beginnings of packing, my visa appointment, and a collection of sticky notes on my computer counting down the Fridays until my last day at work.
Put together, they tell the story of this strange in-between season surprisingly well. Life has continued to feel incredibly normal while, quietly in the background, everything is changing.
For months, moving to Edinburgh has existed somewhere in the future. There was always another milestone ahead: making plans, figuring out finances, applying for my visa, attending my biometrics appointment...
And every Friday, another sticky note came down.
One week closer.
Now, I’ve officially reached one of the biggest milestones of all: my UK student visa was approved!
My university plans are in place. My accommodation is booked. My flight is planned. And now there isn't another application to submit or major approval to wait for....I just have to go.
Which is simultaneously thrilling and very difficult for my brain to comprehend.
I've traveled to Scotland before, and I've moved away for school before. But I've never done this. I'm not visiting Scotland this time. I'm going to live there. And after years of building a career, I'm stepping away from it and going back to school to pursue something creative.
Sometimes I am overwhelmingly excited. Other times, the whole thing feels so enormous and surreal that I don't really feel anything at all. Maybe that's part of what makes it so exciting. I genuinely don't know what this next version of my life is going to look like yet.
For now, I still have a little bit of life here to finish.
I'm wrapping up my final days at work, and then I'll have two weeks to pack, spend time with the people I love, make some art, somehow fit my belongings into suitcases, and say a lot of goodbyes.
And then... I move to Scotland.
There is officially only one last chapter between where I am now and whatever comes next.
See you on the other side. ♡
